Roger Ferndandez
Despina attended a training focusing on Native American storytelling of the Puget Salish Tribes. Roger Fernandez is a Puyallup Native American. He does school presentations and will also add an evening event for parents. Despina has a CD of his storytelling that staff may borrow if they so wish. This presenter was recommended for Carson for the next school year.
Diversity Celebration Updates
1. Linda and Erynn put together a Save the Date postcard for target families. Information will also be going out to presenters and volunteers the first week of March. Linda will send out a request for staff to mention/request in newsletters for volunteers for Diversity Day.
2. Janet shared that PEA and District are looking at May 27th as the half day make up/compensation day for staff. This will mean that although we may have a snow make-up day it will only be half a day. This information will be shared with the CSIP Team.
3. Representative Bruce Dammier will be attending Governor Christine Gregoire is tentative attendee Tatupu from the Seattle Seahawiks is a potential visitor due to being injured so may be available
4. Janet has researched certain craft activities and is looking at donations and materials.
5. May 5th is Ley Day
6. Linda's class is learning how to hula. Class may perform on Diversity Day depending upon their skill level.
7. Food service was contacted regarding making an accommodation in their menu to better support our Pacific Islander focus. More to come on this.

Honoring Cultures Diversity Celebration
April 13-17 is when art is displayed at the Puyallup fair grounds. The art will be prepped on April 10th. The Honoring Cultures Campaign art should be on display in the Carson hallwasy for the month of March beginning March 1st. Linda will be overseeing the cultural fashion show for the district this year.
