Diversity Day May 27th
We were denied the (COP) Grant this year. We will talk to Gerald Deman from ODA about getting funds. Funds were used for treats, buttons, crafts and performers last year. Can we get funds from PTA? The PTA had lunch for our volunteers last year. Let's ask if they can do this again.
May 5th is "Lei" Day. This could be a great project of this year. Janet will research and find community groups who might donate materials for our Diversity Day projects. Maybe we can have the staff make leis. Maybe we can ask parents to donate materials. Food: Janet is going local businesses to donate as well.
Arturo spoke to Gerald Denman after the Diversity Meeting. ODA committed to donating $1000 for trowards Carson's Diversity Day! Way to go!
Let's find people from diverse ethnic groups in the community to present on this day. Linda and other staff members will invite special groups to present. Erynn and Jennifer invited families and presenters last year. We need to see if they will take this on this year.
Teachers will not team teach a lesson this year. Each teacher will be responsible for their own lesson. We would like sack lunches or themed lunches. Let's have the Carson Coyote Choir sing this year. They can sing songs from Polynesian culture. (Opening Presentation)
Honoring Cultures Information
The Spring Fair is April 14-17. The fashion show is April 16th. There will be REACH art displays and student performances. REACH art is to be displayed in the halls at Carson during the month of March.

Amber Santiago from the Puyallup Tribe of Indians Historic Preservation Department will
come and share with the staff on CT January 19th. The staff will learn about resources they can use with their students to inform them about Native American Culture.

The information was great. The presenters were thrilled about the great turn-out.
