Honoring Cultures
Jo Ann and Janet will share the requirments for the Honoring Cultures curriculum/art with staff members. There will be a very limited amount of art pieces that will be representing Carson due to the fact that we have so many schools and a limited amount of display space (although it may seem like a lot). The specifics as to how many pieces is still unclear. Jo Ann and Janet will get clarification.
Door Decorations
The committee agreed to hold a door decorating contest for all the classrooms as a way to support a school wide event. Miles will determine the winners and they will receive a certificate. Teachers will get together at teams to determine what they will be posting on their doors.
March Gladness
Janet proposed that we participate with Rogers High School to help raise money for the construction of an elementary school in Africa. It was felt that it would be more meaningful for our students since we have just opened a new school. Janet volunteered to be the school rep to work with the Rogers H.S. students. The students will present at the next principal directed meeting. This will include the showing of a short video and question and answer. The students will also be making presentations in the classroom as part of encouraging fundraising.
Ballet Folklorico
Arturo shared about the Ballet Folklorico group that practices at Firgrove. This is a district sponsored (ODA) traditional Mexican Dance group open to all elementary students. They will be performing for three schools. Arturo signed them up for Carson. The other two schools are Edgerton and Firgrove. A date and time is still to be determined.
