The committee will attend on Feb. 29th. This is a no host lunch.
District Diversity Committee
Arturo presented information from district committee. The monthly events calendar will be posted on the bulletin in hte foyer. Arturo also shared information regarding the presentor at the district committee who addressed gay, lesbian, and transgender topics as they relate to a school setting. Arturo shared information on article that was shared at the meeting.
Janet
Janet shared that she had received fundraising information from Red Cloud Indian School on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. There was conversation about potential fundraising but the group was unsure of the school's mission, affiliation, etc. No motion or suggestion to carry this further was discussed

Chinese New Year: Chinese new year is Jan. 23rd this year. The Year of the Dragon.
Native American Resource Binder: Lynda Belt provided materials with additional resources to the the schools focusing on Native American culture this year. The content is to be used as a resource by teachers and is not intended to be copied off. Linda will share the information at the next LIC Wednesday. The binder will be kept in the student files.
Denita will share a beautiful Native American blanket with the staff that she received when teaching in Oregon.

Drumming group with Puyallup Nation. Arturo will follow up
Invite Amy Eveskcige to be our welcoming ambassador at our event from 8 am - noon.
Mutlicultural Manners. Invite Laura Goodall and Michelle Marcoe to help us with any multicultural manners as a staff as we prepare for our event.
Communicate with Indian Ed department to see how we can work together to assure that we are supporting each other and following appropriate protocols.
Diversity Committee Schedule Change
The building Diversity Committee will be meeting at before school, 7:30 instead of after school. The change is due to conflicts with other commitments by Diversity Committee members.
