Diversity Day Feedback
Diversity Day was a success!
Things to consider for next year: 2011-2012
-Utilize high school volunteers.
-The format of the culture walk needs to be revised. The Culture Walk session needs to be more structured.
-The students need to be in (smaller)two groups during the culture walk.
-Have a back-up plan for parents or volunteers who don't show up.
-Look at the set-up for the Culture Walk after the assembly.
-Students can have a tour guide to take them to each station during the Culture Walk.
-Look at options like trading a recess for another time to keep the focus on Diversity Celebration activities. We will take this to the PACK leadership Team.
-Students can learn Native American dances, as well as, the meaning and purpose of different dances.
-The Culture Walk and Assembly should focus on Native American Culture.
-Meet with the Puyallup Nation and plan together about Diversity Day activities.
-Suggestion: Have Diversity Day in early June after snow make-up day and MSP testing. We might be able to have activities take place outside. We will take this to the PACK Leadership Team.
The PACK Leadership Team will also decide what cultures we will focus on in the future at the PACK Retreat. We looking at seven year cycle. We can focus on the cultures represented at Carson. (India, Pacific Islander, Native American, Africa, Middle Eastern, American, Hispanic)
Are we ready to go for Gold this year? Carson teachers did such a great job attending workshops this year. Let's talk about this and the opportunities it will bring.
Next, year we will focus on Native American Culture!
