Diversity Day Planning
The committee met to finalize Diversity Day format. The following information was covered:
- Format for opening assembly w/performances
- Sack Lunches for that day, students can picnic in front of school
- Three sessions and what is being offered (two by teachers, one culture walk)
- Indian theme decorations in the common areas and some type of welcome at entrance-YMCA will help with decorations
- palm trees or other decorations/plants brought in
- Hiring a Baliwood dancer for assembly. Appropriate attire and dance for school
- Student souvenir-bracelets
- Pins for staff design/look
- CNN closing event to the day with pictures/format
- Adjustment of schedule to two recesses and supervision by paras
- Invitations by Sarah Simon
- Performances Update: Native American Drumming, Ballet Folklorico, Jaskaran from 4th grade, step team, Hawaiian Dance Group, ASL
- Spirit Theme for the month will be Dress Your Culture or Dress for Success. There will be no spirit assembly for May.
Janet: a dessert or candy from East Indian culture, see into pins and bracelets for event
Jennifer and Erynn: Oversee organizing culture walk-activities, displays and participants
Arturo: Money for event from ODA request, expenses update
