Special Olympics Fundraiser

Sarah presented format for a Wii tournament and change drive for Special Olympic fundraiser. Officer Kleffman will be here with squad car. Teachers will have option of staying overnight if class raises enough money ($100). Danielle will help with Wii tournament, Arturo & Miles will be in charge of food (hotdogs and pop), Sarah will oversee change drive but Danielle will collect change from classrooms on a daily basis.

Diversity Book Study
Sue suggested a book study with a focus on minority/ethnicity. Two options were given:
1) a specific book that everyone reads
2) instead of a book study where they all read one book, it could be an open forum of books that staff have read. Like a book club. People suggest one particular book or author. It's an opportunity rather than a requirement. Teacher leery about a certain group of kids. This is why certain people do this. What list of books are out there for daily teachings. Don't know about books for students. Sonja agreed to present information to CSIP

Fundraisings for Next Year
Committee recommends only two fundraisers next year instead of three. Work to spread them out so do not occur in the spring too close together. Will present to CSIP team.

Books for Africa
Janet shared that all books had been collected, boxed and shipped out of building. Three boxes were collected at Carson. This was a good amount considering time of year and all the other fundraisers occuring concurrently with PTA and building.
